My first overnight conference was everything I had hoped it
could be. I immediately was “all in” when the keynote speaker at a TECHNOLOGY
conference stated that her school is not
1-1 with technology and she prefers it
that way. She spoke about the power of students huddling around one devise and
the discourse that comes from the situation. Opposed to each student engaged in
only their own devise. I gained a bunch of free resources that I came back and
have already implemented, some that I want to implement before 2016, and some
that are awesome but I need to save my sanity.
So to share my learning with my colleagues I
have already implemented kahoot as a tool to gather information in my class
with my students, as well as get a baseline of the staff’s perception of “coaching”
at the school. I also used nearpod for teachers to have access to my
presentation. Both programs are extremely user friendly and do not require the
participants to have a username and password (HUGE time saver). I have also
tried using onenote as a method of note-taking for myself in meetings. So far I
am not 100% happy with it and am struggling to see how I can implement it with
my students.
